A very young Ballygarvan team travelled to Douglas last Sunday to participate in an U9 blitz. The day was very well organised with four teams competing and each team played three games. The first game was against Ballincollig who got the better of Ballygarvan. It took time for the girls to get into the game and Ballincollig were just too strong.
They picked themselves up and put on a great display against Bishopstown. They began to fight for every ball showing their many supporters what they were really capable of. A well taken free from Aisling Finnigan found the back of the net much to the delight of this young team. This was the only score of the game.
Ballygarvan faced the hosts Douglas in the final game. The girls were tiring at this stage but played well. Ballygarvan struggled to get the ball to the inside forward line and much of the game was fought in the middle of the field. There was still no score at the halftime break but as the game wound down Douglas struck for goal and succeeded. The girls battled on but time was against them and the game ended 1-0.
Everyone was then invited into the clubhouse where the girls were treated to chips and nuggets and a spread of sandwiches and cakes were laid out for mentors and supports. To finish off a wonderful day, Amanda O'Regan, the 2009 winning captain of the Cork Senior Camogie team presented each player with a medal and congratulated them on the great effort they put in that day.
Many thanks to Douglas for a well organised and enjoyable day.

The senior team continued their league campaign with a tough game against Ballincollig. Like their previous matches there was very little between the two sides throughout this match with Ballygarvan leading by a goal at half time. In the second half, the girls were very unlucky when two goal chances by Sara O’Donovan and Rebecca Murphy were stopped by the Ballincollig keeper.

Ballygarvan 4-5; Kilbrittain 7-17
The under 16 team were missing many of their younger members and had to line out with just 11 players against a full strength Kilbrittan. The girls did very well in the first half, holding the opposition to 4-5 to Ballygarvan’s 3-3. However, the second half proved very difficult as tiredness began to set in.
