Coach Education with George O'Connor

Coach Education Programme Autumn 2008 – Ballygarvan GAA Club in conjunction with the County Games Development Committee are hosting a series of workshops for club coaches of all age groups who wish to advance the standard of their own coaching within the club. Contact Richard O’Leary for more information.

Monday 27th October, Mallow GAA Club 7pm. Hurling Workshop.

Tutor: George O’Connor. George will look at how to coach players to win the ball, how to successfully defend against opponents, and also decision making drills.

Monday 3rd November, Na Piarsaigh Club 7pm. Hurling Workshop.

Tutor: Pat Moore. Following on from his sell out recent workshop, Pat Moore returns to the Na Piarsaigh venue and will focus on the art of striking from the hand - striking skills. 

Monday 10th November, Na Piarsaigh GAA Club 7pm. Hurling Workshop.

Tutor: Martin Fogarty. Martin is the Kilkenny hurling trainer and will demonstrate defensive and attacking skills and skills that coaches typically do not emphasise enough in club hurling.

Monday 17th November, Mallow GAA Club 7pm. Football Workshop.

Tutor: Pat O Shea. Pat is the former Kerry football manager and will demonstrate advanced drills that develop team attacking play.

Monday 24th November, Convent Hall, Clonakilty, 7 pm. Football Workshop.

Tutor: Vince Cooper. Vince is Kerry based and operates across the province as Games Development Officer.

These workshops will begin at 7pm and end at 9pm with 15 minutes at the end for Q and A. Please bring a biro and paper to take notes of the drills and activities.

Coach Education Courses – Ballygarvan GAA Club and the County Games Development Committee are hosting five workshops for club coaches of all age groups who wish to advance the standard of their own coaching within their clubs.

 

Monday 20th October, Convent Hall, Clonakility, 7pm. Football Workshop.

Tutor: John Sugrue. John, is the Kerry football coach and will work with a team and put them through drills which focus on decision making as replicated in a match situation.

 

Monday 27th October, Mallow GAA Club 7pm. Hurling Workshop.

Tutor: George O Connor. George will look at how to coach players to win the ball and will also demonstrate defending and attacking strategies.

 

Monday 3rd November, Na Piarsaigh GAA Club 7pm. Hurling Workshop.

Tutor: Martin Fogerty. Martin is the Kilkenny hurling trainer and will be looking at coaching of the tackle and skills that coaches typically do not emphasise in club hurling.

COACH EDUCATION SESSION PAT MOORE (MASTER GAA TUTOR) 

HURLING WORKSHOP Na Piarsaigh GAA Complex.

Coaches of all teams and age groups are invited to a coach training evening with Pat Moore, Master Tutor. He will look at basic technique right through to more advanced and challenging training activities. Cost €10 per person. To reserve place contact Kevin O Callaghan 086-8532375. To attend all applicants must pre-register.

          

   

Coaches Graduation Awards 2008

The presentation event will take place in the Cork International Airport Hotel in conjunction with the Under Age Clubs 30th. Primary School Coaching Tuesday and Thursday

Football coaching in preparation for school shield competitions continues this Tuesday and Thursday from 2 pm. to 3 pm. - (subject to weather conditions).

Hurley Repair Course

There is a Hurley Repair Night Course starting on Monday Nights in Ballincollig. If You are interested in taking part, please contact Joe Kennefick @ 086 385 4051. This course runs  for 5 weeks and begins on Monday 22nd Sept, and costs €70.00.

   

Primary School Coaching

By the kind invitation of school principal Ms. Mairead Coakley, Ballygarvan GAA Club will recommence their primary schools weekly coaching programme next Tuesday 9th. September. Subject to weather conditions, the coaching and skills development sessions will be held each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 2.00 pm. to 3.00 pm. Head Coach Mr. Jim Nodwell, will lead these popular twice weekly coaching afternoons in conjunction with the respective class teachers and under age club coaches.
