Welcome to the Ballygarvan GAA Club website

hcjahfin8_sThe earliest reference to Ballygarvan National Hurling Club is recorded in an account of the 1828 Cork County Hurling Championship. The passion and enthusiasm of Ballygarvan folk for the ancient game of Iománaíocht is referred to reverently in stories and song and chronicled in ballad sheets and other annals.

The surrounding townlands each had their goal-fields where young men gathered to play the classic game and where epic matches were decided - Ballyduhig, Belvedere, Shanagraigue, Five Mile Bridge, Ballinabearna, the Lodge Field, the Feis Field and the Thrysting Meadow. To this day the tradition continues.
