BALLYGARVAN TOPS

Ballygarvan 3-6 Ballymartle 1-10 A comeback of heartwarming proportions enabled Ballygarvan to repossess the South East 'B' hurling championship title at Ballinspittle yesterday after a wait of 15 years. It was an unexpected outcome, as the holders Ballymartle led 107 to 0-4 at half-time. But worthwhile substitutions and switches and an enormous spirit gave Ballygarvan territorial sway throughout the second-half. However, agile corner forward Sean O'Halloran set his team alight with goals in the 39th and 47th minutes, with pointed frees from David O'Sullivan quick to follow. Crisis resurfaced when Kevin O'Donovan nudged Ballymartle in front again only for substitute Michael Hallahan to score the winning goal for Ballygarvan.
