Fé 21 Hurling Championship: Ballygarvan v Ballyhea

Fé 21 B Hurling County Quarter final

u21

24th September 2011

In Blarney

Result: Ballygarvan 4-10 Ballyhea 1-13

Half-time score: Ballygarvan 4-3 Ballyhea 0-8

A flurry of goals in the first half, gave Bally enough of a cushion and too much climb for Ballyhea to overcome in the final thirty minutes in Blarney this evening.

The match started even enough, but when Luke O’ Sullivan and Mark Kennefick both found the back of the net between the 10th and 11th minute, Bally stormed ahead and set the tone. Ballyhea emerged a different team in the second half, and with Bally giving away a few frees, their free taker, number 12 Ryan Hanley, brought them back into the game and Bally only having a three point lead. A master stroke from the Bally sideline, moving Mark Kennefick back into midfield, where he steadied the ship and Bally regained their composure. The addition of the lively Jack Naidoo helped Bally build on their lead. A late, and controversial goal from Ballyhea shifted the balance of the game slightly, but the ever accurate Kennefick added two more points and well deserved win. Final score 4-10 Ballyhea 1-13.

Next round is scheduled for next Saturday. Details will be posted on www.ballygarvangaa.ie once announced.
