Carrigdhoun/Muskerry Interdivisional League Round-up

BALLYGARVAN 3-6 St. LACTEENS (Grenagh) 0-5 Ballygarvan GAA Club, a club with a proud and long tradition and who contested two Cork County Senior Hurling Finals in the early years of the Association, added another chapter to their history with a win in the Muskerry/Carrigdhoun Inter-Divisional Minor Hurling League (1988). This convincing win over St. Lacteens at Church Road, Blackrock on Friday night last, brought the first minor title to the club in 104 years. They received a tonic start with full forward Tom Desmond palming home a great goal after a mere 20 seconds of play. But the Grenagh boys overcame the setback and fought their way back into the game thanks to some great points from centre-forward Denis O'Riordan. Best for Ballygarvan were Keith Kidney, Fergus O'Halloran, Neil O'Sullivan and David Kidney in goal while Denis O'Riordan, Noel O'Connell and Tim Walsh tried hardest for a game St. Lacteens side. St. Lacteens side. After the game the Inter-Divisional Minor Hurling Shield was presented to Paul O'Connell by Martin Walsh in the presence of Board Officers Tony O'Mahony and Jim Forbes.
