Ballygarvan v St Mary's - (Ballineen)

A nice dry Saturday morning for a match and St Mary's turned up with 8
players while Ballygarvan had 8. St Mary's got off to a great start and were
1-1 up before Ballygarvan knew the match had started. Ballygarvan played in
a stiff breeze and found the hardy St Mary's tough to stay with. The referreeawared at free and St Mary's converted a free. 1-4 to know score when Morgan Sheehan picked up ball and beat a St Marys back to crash into the net giving Ballygarvan a great lift for the second half.

Half Time - Ballygarvan 1-0 St Marys 1-5

After the second half, Ballygarvan came out a different side fighting for
every ball and using the wind to their advantage. Cian O' Flynn had another great
game in goal and is proving to be a great shot stopper. He kept Bally in the
game with 3 or 4 great saves again this week. The forwards came more into
the game and then a cracker of a shot from Evan Healy into the top corner of
the net. What a goal!! Ballygravan were right back in it. The whole team
came into the game after that and St Mary's suddenly had a fight on their
hands. Evan Forrest O' Brien played a great last 20 minutes in the backs and
St Marys could not get passed him. Stephen Fenton tacked on a point and
Piarras was very accurate with all his free taking. The sides were level and
Bally could smell victory. Morgan Sheehan got his second goal, another great
goal, returning to his best form. Ciarán McIntyre got more into the game in
the second half and dominated midfield as Emmet O' Sullivan had his best game
this year in the backs where he plays his best ground hurling alongside Ray
O' Halloran who had another fine game striking the ball beatifully off his
left. Ballygarvan pulled away with 2 more goals , Morgan scrapped another
one over the line after a long range effort from Stephen Fenton followed by
a great goal from Piaras O' Halloran.

Ballygarvan were a far better side in the second half and if they could
start all the games like that, they would be very hard to beat. Remember St
Mary's only got 2 scores in the second half as opposed to 6 in the first
half.

A great second half performance from the whole team. Well done lads

Final Score:

Ballygarvan 5-4 St Mary's 2-6
