GAA FE 8 PLAY AND STAY BLITZES

Ballygarvan U8s have been drawn in group 5 of the U8 Play and Stay Blitz, with Clyda Rovers, Grenagh, and Kinsale. The first of these blitzs took place last Saturday 12th June and a great time was had by all.

GAA FE 8 PLAY AND STAY BLITZES

The Blitzes are to be run in small sided game format (7 or 9 a side).

The rules are to be agreed by the competing teams but should ensure certain players don’t dominate the games.

Each team should get three 20 minute games of 10 minutes a side.

Mentors should rotate players and their positions so that they experience playing in all positions. When clubs are bringing 2 teams, they should where possible split them evenly and avoid having a very strong team and a very weak team.

Goalposts should be used if possible. However should a club not have posts for every pitch then they should use training poles as goalposts. Each club bringing 2 teams may require 4 mini pitches setup on 1 adult size pitch.

All clubs to bring a referee, and the home team should have 2 refs should an away team fail to bring someone. (Young whistlers are sufficient)

The first team in the enclosed list is responsible for hosting the first round of games and agreeing a date with the other clubs. The second team listed hosts the second round of games and the third team hosts the third round of games etc.

If there are 2 teams in a group then the teams host on alternate weeks so that 4 Blitzes take place.

The clubs involved are to furnish details for all Blitzes ahead of fixtures to the local GDA.

Should this not occur, the clubs involved may not receive the club pack afterwards.

All clubs who participate in the Blitzes will receive a training accessory pack from Coiste Oiliuna consisting of footballs/sliothars, cones and bibs.

Mentors are to endorse and promote the RESPECT initiative throughout the games and to wear the bibs provided for same.
